The number of Circuit Court judges per district ranges from one to four. Four Circuit Court judges preside in the First Circuit Court District.
Circuit Court judges are selected in non-partisan elections to serve four-year terms.
In order to serve as a Circuit Court judge, one must meet the following requirements set forth by the Constitution of the State of Mississippi:
- Practicing lawyer for five years
- 26 years of age or older
- Citizen of this State for at least five years
- Citizen of the district in which he or she serves
